South india Coming up!
Putting myself in the India retreat picture with Emma Lovell
There are moments when the ink on a contract is more than a transaction. It signifies an opportunity to shift, write a new chapter (or book). It’s the moment relieved of the weight of the financial burden. Endless possibilities paint the horizon. I am at this very moment debt-free and at a crossroads.
I’m taking a pause to consider my next steps mindfully.
Instead of jumping into my usual routines, I’m taking a break from life’s bustle. I’m attending a 5-day business retreat in November. Hosted by the remarkable Emma Lovell, whom I met through Business Chicks. I joined Business Chicks to connect and talk about business with like-minded women. Business Chicks plans events and helps people connect, get inspired, and grow. I encourage all businesswomen to join the 45,000-strong community.
The retreat timing gives me a couple of months out the other side of the sale to roll on with all the usual busyness. Work, publishing the novel, dealing with life admin, and setting up in our new place. The latter is a bare block of land, and we are going off-grid in a little home we’re importing from China.
Serendipity at work
This week I attended an incredible Business Chicks event. The Rt Honourable Dame Jacinda Adern shared an intimate account of her time in office and the circumstances giving rise. It was a more emotional experience than expected (a post for another time).
A last-minute cancellation has me seated at a table organised by Caroline. Flanking me is fellow IT pundit, Leisha on one side and Christine on the other.
Out of 1500 people at the event, I’m next to Christine who runs an International freight forwarding company. She has recently imported a prefabricated home into the country from China. And Christine is also attending Emma’s retreat to Kerala, India.
Why retreat?
The retreat is a chance to take a break, focus on myself, and explore new opportunities. I have a grown-up family, so they’re coming too. Emma created separate experiences for my husband and the kids. During the retreat, I can relax and do me while still sharing the experience with my family.
Emma is the hostess with the mostest. I don’t want your FOMO realised when I share the retreat experience. Only a few remaining places are available at the capped retreat for 12 attendees.
Come to the November retreat if you want a change (and to change) and meet incredible women in beautiful Kerala.
